You don’t know what the smallest things you have done will produce!

  1. Those who have helped me the most have one way or another helped me get useful information, which has resulted in so many blessings.
  2. Sometimes they are just encouragement which reminds me of all the heavenly truth I know.
  3. Our donors have recently helped us pass good knowledge along with a computer with software, a bible library, good teaching audio, video, and notes, and Christian movies, for our Burundi ministry leader.  Nearly 100Gig of files and useful software.  I saved donations to ship all at once:
    1. A long battery-life net book computer for use & travel upcountry in Burundi
    2. An external 320G Hard drive (for safe back-up) we bought for about $60.
    3. An external DVD/CD/RW, since it doesn’t come with one built in, at under 2 lbs.
    4. Several really good books like “From Eternity to Here”, ReImagining Church” both by Frank Viola, & “The Rabbit and the Elephant” by the Dales.  I’m thankful that I have seen Bienvenu visiting us in Rwanda, & David Saku (in Tanzania) carrying books with them that I gave them in the past.
    5. We also made DVDs, to play on a DVD player of great free teaching you can get from www.MikeBickle.org.
    6. Bienvenu told me he has happily received it & would soon start compiling his good teaching in two languages we can use in other countries, which he will email to me so we can use them in our entire ministry.
  4. Donations and kind encouragement to me have allowed us to stay true to our calling to bring great life and ministry changing teaching to thousands of people by having well trained leaders who train other leaders. I paid for shipping it & the software and Grace’s time making DVDs and setting up the computer, but I’m counting on donations to pay me back the $100 I loaned the ministry from my business to buy things, as I have to make taking care of my wife & traveling to be with her a priority.
  5. In Burundi alone we have an unknown (by choice) number of simple churches, but I imagine it has gone beyond the 700 David Kirkwood reported in his travel blogs, because Bienvenu told me of one leader who, by training others to train others had produced a network of 14 house churches in 6 mos, recently.
  6. Our 60 plus house churches in Goma DRCongo, continue reaching the lost, and my wife is involved in leadership development of 10 in Gisenyi, Rwanda. There are 3 in Tanzania and an unknown amount in the Bukavu, DRCongo area. Plus new ones in Bunagana, DRCongo.  We also have networks in Musanze, Rwanda and places we don’t know about.
  7. It is through your prayers and encouragement to me that I’ve been able to encourage and provide good teaching to our leaders.
  8. I have been given or told about so many good books, by Marc, Tony, Felicity, Larry, Brad, MorningStar,  & House2House conferences. These books and my own discoveries will bear fruit that you can’t imagine!
  9. I am able to keep my balance, although away from my wife and beloved ministry, because of the friends I talk with & the encouraging emails I get.
  10. I am so blessed!

One supporter has paid two accountants to catch up all my taxes, which has allowed me to qualify for Pell grants for online education. I am amazed that my own learning from MorningStar Ministies web-stream has dove-tailed with my first online Africa History class (because from MorningStar I bought the biography “William Wilberforce” who was famous for stopping the slave trade, but also changed the whole world by changing the morals of the British Empire with others helping, of course).  Plus, their excellent teachings of the mostly unknown Christian history of the USA, inspired me to find a great online school for history courses from a Christian perspective that will all transfer to another online school for a History degree.  I really like my online Africa History course!

I’m also amazed at the progress I’ve made in this poor economy with little advertising!

  1. From my earnings, I bought a $1,500 Volvo with 112,000 miles on it (peanuts for a Volvo) with power everything that works, which is now my work truck to save on fuel costs.
  2. I just picked up my 17 yr old van, with a now working driver’s window, window washer, horn, and my rusted through rear bumper replaced with a chrome covered one.  It’s in much better shape than it was before my accident.  My answer-to-prayer-mechanic even replaced a tire and rim, all of that for $180 which I have from my own business earnings.
  3. I finally had both the money and the low cost workers ($8 & 10/hr) to put the deck on my elevated porch and set the trusses which I already had, with the roofing to be finished this or next week.  When that is done, we can re-side the front of my house to make it insurable and much more valuable, because it was ugly with the flat pole-barn look with house siding.
  4. I had in my garage ¾” OSB waferboard (for my 32” truss spans [they’re made for 8’ spacing]) and all the nails I needed to put the roof on the 3 overly strong trusses, which I bought and never used years ago.  So far I’ve only bought treated decking, shingle,s $30 of metal & hangers, and 3 bags of concrete.  I had all the framing, nails, and roof decking for my elevated porch and roof.
  5. I have gotten a dual-sim card from ebay phone that is easier to use than the one I left my wife, and one that takes good quality photos for me to use, because I usually break digital cameras.
  6. I’ve stocked up on my business inventory and tools (About $400).
  7. I just found and bought a “Straight Talk” phone from Walmart with unlimited, voice, text, internet, and 411 calls for $45/mo.”  The Verizon network it uses works better with international SMS from Africa, and will reduce my communications expenses in the USA.  My phone numbers won’t change.  I got an electric beard-trimmer, tooJ

From the past, what has worked for life-changing breakthroughs:

First is Obedience:

  1. Praying, repenting, and obeying in my cold basement when God spoke to me to call an old friend, which led to a 5 yr discipleship meeting with up to 5 young men & my current best near-by friend and wonderful wife.  That was nearly 30 years ago. They cleaned my raccoon ransacked kitchen & house when I had no electricity or water and she sews my clothes!
  2. Traveling 600 miles to hear a man (new to me) who taught me the passionate interpretation of the Song of Solomon. 1990-92. In the 90s I memorized it & wrote a book on it.  Click www.IHOP.org or www.MikeBickle.org.
  3. Expecting to help lead over 100 churches, because I felt that was God’s plan and expecting to find a good wife.
  4. Asking God if I should go to meeting and hearing him say, “Go!” I was invited to teach in Burundi at that nearby meeting.

David (of Tanzania) called & I was surprised that he told me the same thing that Haggai (from DRCongo) told me. He said, “You have taught me patience.” But he added, “and persistence.”, which I definitely have. No matter how things look, I persist!

  1. I remember writing teaching notes on the wall of my mind, when I was so sick with cerebral malaria I couldn’t stand up, and my liver wasn’t working.  But I knew I would be teaching again in Africa.
  2. I remember writing a book on the Song of Solomon, when no one knew my knowledge on the subject and I had never taught a large group.
  3. I remember making plans to work when the sun came up while they sewed up my knee at two in the morning after flying over a car 20 feet from my wrecked motor-assisted tricycle.  I met an African that day at Menard’s Lumberyard in a nearby city, who became my friend and ran my business for me on my next trip or two. That happened when I could barely walk and still had a concussion.  But God provided, because that friend I obeyed God to call 25 yrs before drove my van & did the work while I rode and lay on a couch.
  4. I remember carrying my wife many times when she was so sick, which I could do, because I’ve persisted to exercise to the point of pain, because I want to be healthy when I am old and more useful to the Lord.
  5. I’ve gotten scores of refunds, and credits, because I am persistent and I just ask to talk to the manager, until they give in.

But David overlooked the third “P” resulting in great progress. With patience and persistence there is also passion.

  1. I prayed in that cold basement, because I wanted to please the Lord.
  2. I wrote notes in my head, because I wanted to make good eternal use of my time.
  3. I planned to work when my knee was being sewed up, because I wanted to be faithful to my word to my customer.
  4. I persisted in exercise because I have passion to be effective for my Master, in the days of my maturity, and I want to be strong for my young wife and children, when I am what others think is old.
  5. I ask for refunds, and favors, because I have faith that I can do anything through Christ who strengthens me, and I desire to use money for the Lord.

So these are new things I’m expecting:

  1. I expect to be a carrier of the next Great Awakening.
  2. I expect to bring the mountains of power in a culture under control of God’s kingdom.  Perhaps it will be government and education in Rwanda which leads the future world power of Africa.  Why not?  William Wilberforce changed the whole world through his knowledge, patient work, persistence, and passion to transform the British Empire.  Shouldn’t we use our gifts for whatever the Lord sets before us?
  3. I expect us to be an example in many countries of the power of united ministry and marriage working together and to raise up many generations of passionate followers of Jesus.

One great day, 2 wks ago, which made me think:

1.     I woke up early and got a service call while I was under the covers still.

2.     I didn’t exercise and was working at 8.

3.     The part I needed for my next service call arrived at 8:30. The driver called me, at my request.

4.     I earned over $700 profit while I was having good fellowship by 1:30 in the afternoon..

5.     The second one who paid $130 extra for overnight service (the part was in the next state) grew up in W. Africa and was fluent in 7 languages like my wife and talked to her in French on the phone, so she, & I with her, were very happy!

6. I called David who usually calls me several times (he’s persistent) but this unusual time I called him first and he was so glad, because he didn’t have the credit to call me, but had something great to share; While I was driving my heavily loaded (with tools and materials) Volvo to pick up the balance of two jobs after the service call and so brought in $2,000 in one day (more than the last 5 weeks) David told me this:

a.     While meditating about being the friend of God, I thought of you. Then he shared the first two Ps of patience and persistence.

b.     After that I thought of the P of Passion!

Pray for God to lead me in February and to provide the right connections to go deeper into the river of His Spirit and to come out a soaked sponge.  I’m going to a conference at MorningStar, this week with 1 or 2 friends.  Pray for me to be persistent and wise to be well prepared for the doors of influence he will give me in Africa, where I sense there is much in the future.

Thinking about what David and Haggai said about patience, I don’t think of myself as a patient person, but I do have patience in the sense of maturity. In other words, the sign of maturity is how long you will wait for a reward.  I’ll wait for eternity.  I feel like Abraham, who was seeking something he had seen with his spiritual eyes.  I see a city that is not made with hands!  It is none other than the precious bride of Christ.

Amen!!
