Good news from all four countries & two good news links

The links are at the top are from CBNnews.com (Christian perspective world news) & Townhall.com

The first is a great video clip about an African American teenager who was adopted by Christian white family in Georgia. (Click here)

The second shows the fallacy & planned results of the global-warming treaties ending with this statement:  Since then, 4,000 scientists and 72 Nobel Prize winners have signed on. (Stating the falsity of it) Again, it needs be said: Global warming is cyclical, and has been stagnant for a decade. There is no conclusive proof it is manmade, no conclusive proof it is harmful to the planet. (Click here to read it all)

Good news from Africa:

The best news is from Bienvenu in Burundi and Haggai, in DRCongo, but I’ll start with short good news from:

1.     Rwanda: My wife is much stronger and planning a several hour trip to teach a seminar in Rwanda (she was invited) and plans much later to travel about 6 hrs to her hometown in Congo to visit 3 orphans whose house church leader parents were murdered recently by rebel/robbers. The oldest is about 16-17, but could use donations to support his sister and brother.

2.     Rwanda: The last four Express Mail shipments have arrived and all the computers have been sold, 2 by my wife at a nice profit, so she had enough money to get another house ($450, 3 mo. Dep. + moving) & money for these teaching/mercy trips.

3.     Tanzania & computer sales business: After 3 insured computers got sent to Amsterdam and lost, the next two arrived for David to sell with a $10 used phone he can use for internet for better communication. I had enough business money to ship 2 to him & 2 (directly to my wife in Rwanda, still unreceived, which is slower for shipping). His or my business income has been supporting everything in Tanzania.

4.     Bukavu, DRCongo: Letter from Haggai (Our leader & High School English teacher):

Hi brother Greg,

Merry Xmas. I thank the Lord for getting my MTN (mobile phone) internet connection reestablished.

We didn’t start the church in the house of Pastor Joel on Sat. 19. We postponed till yesterday because on Sat. there was a special prayer program for our country from 4 to 6 p.m.

We gathered in his house, 1.5 miles away from my place. There were 14 new members, belonging to the new House Church, and 15 ones from the church that meets in my house. First I asked three of our members to give their personal testimonies on the advantages of being a member of a House Church. Then, I spoke of Biblical House Churches basing on the teaching from the Swahili disciple making book, page 52, (We got them free, in Goma, DRC and gave 20 to Haggai & 25 to leaders in Bunagana before I left, because I know the author &  the ministry (www.heavensfamily.org) ( I gave a copy to our new ministry partner _ and as I  was going to his place. Another fellow pastor saw the disciple making book I had with me, he followed me reading it and said he wanted to embrace the vision and I left him the book. We’ll start a House Church in his locality by Jan 9th. The idea of the church in the house is liked by many people here. One of our sisters testified that this ministry in a given area is like “heaven on earth”.

The next step was getting questions. We answered them as we went on sharing the vision. They committed to be gathering on Sat. 5 to 6 p.m.

The last lap was sharing a dish of ugali (soft bread made from ground cassava root flour) and beans. I had handed $8 for cassava flour to the wife of brother Joel and she cooked some beans from her field. We had enough food for the congregation. They were satisfied and concluded that we were in the Biblical Apostolic church. Praise the Lord.

Unfortunately, the photographer took only 3 photos. He said his film was over as he’d taken many photos at Xmas. I’ll scan and send you the ones he took as soon as they are developed.

I thank God for the hunger and for the bread of life that His people over here have now. The field is ready, may He send more harvesters.

I went jogging this morning. It’s fine (He is modeling my discipline of physical exercise)

How is Mama Du PROVI? (I call her Du for Dusabe, but her family and my emails call her Provi for Providence {for Greg} & she is called Mama for Respect)

Love from,

Haggai K.

Burundi: from phone conversations with Bienvenu:

  • A group of “Christians” was lying about & persecuting Bienvenu, because they thought having church in houses was a heresy, then they heard a pastor who said, “No, you don’t make disciples unless you have the gift.”  So they came back to Bienvenu and asked to be restored to the family of God who are making disciples.
  • Then he shared that, I am not just teaching you, I am doing it.  I go every day to the lost to make new disciples.  They were amazed.
  • He taught them, when someone asks, “How are you” ask them, “Do you know why I said, I was OK?”  Then you can tell them that you have the certainty of eternal life and explain the gospel.
  • He told me that today (last week) he had seen the 8th generation of his disciples.
  • He asked these repentant men, “How many disciples do you have?”  then “How many disciples have been made by your disciples?”  When they said 2 or 3, he inspired them with his own experience of seeing 8 generations of disciples.
  • He told me there is a business that is network marketing in Burundi, & he said what we are we are doing!  I told him that Jesus started Network marketing, but it was resurrected in business in the USA!
  • He reminded me of what I taught him about expanding both the length, which is multiplication, and the depth which come from the personal growth of himself & others.
  • He said, he was very touched by our last conversation & he said to himself, “There is something God is going to do, because our friendship is getting resurrected and Jesus said that a seed must fall into the ground die to bear much fruit.”
  • In words like this he said, “Now it is time to build, now that I have gained some maturity and I have learned to seek God’s kingdom and not my own interests.”
  • I was so blessed when he said, “I am amazed by what I understand now!”

I’m sure we have many miracles, salvations, deliverances, and new churches every week in Burundi, but probably 90+% of our leaders have no phones and Bienvenu is too busy training leaders and doing personal evangelism/disciple-making to send news emails.  & I’m busy calling my wife daily, so I don’t talk to him as much as in the past.

A health idea: I have read that coconut oil, at www.mercola.com, is the best for things like frying (heat doesn’t cause the forming of transfats, but it does in healthy olive oil) but generally the oils with more saturated fats & less unsaturated are best.  The best price I found on coconut oil was $10/lb, but with research I determined that low-cost palm oil is the next best & it’s commonly used in E Africa.  If you want good cooking oil at less than $1/lb you can order it from GFS (click here) 50 lbs for $41.00, as I did.  They can order many things that they don’t stock with no deposit if you call them.  I just got 14 oz of coriander spice for my favorite “Syrian Lentils” recipe which can email to you if you like.  Has lots of cumin, garlic, & tomato paste with lentils, of course.
