From Haggai in Bukavu, DRCongo:
I bolded remarks, I’ll comment on after.
Hi brother Greg,
You seem to be very busy these days.
The Lord has given me the opportunity to share about House Church work
with a fellow traditional pastor, who lives at around 1.5 miles away
from my place. and he appreciated the idea, so we’re planning to start
a church in his house on Dec.17. The whole congregation will go there
to set up the church. The new friend is called Joel Munene.
So, I’m thinking of buying some food that we’ll share that day. Pray
for me to get enough means and for this step. I’ll have some photos
taken and send you the scanned ones.
Much Love,
Haggai K.
Dec 12, 09
Hi brother Greg,
I was glad to hear from you again.
I’m looking forward to receiving the teaching from brother Bienvenu.
As for me, I’m still translating and sumarizing the book, the Church in
the House, into the Congo Swahili for my new collaborators. They told
me they need to know more about what we do in a House Church. If I’d
had my own computer, I’d have written the notes that are ready
already. But I do hope I’ll have sent you the whole brochure by the
end of Dec.
Tomorrow I’ll have to isolate from my family for a 12 hrs prayer for
the start of the new House Church next Thurs. 17th. Pray with us, too.
The devil is crafty (yet he will be defeated) since I planned to have
some food cooked to share with the new brothers and sisters, my school
authorities seem not to agree to lend me or give an advance on my Dec.
salary. I believe even at the last minute the Almighty God will
perform wonders.
Mama Provi promised to come to Bukavu soon, maybe in January.
Much love,
Haggai
See how serious they are about planting house churches!
I have a plan that that will help get Bienvenu’s good teaching into the hands of the whole ministry. Most of what is needed is set aside.
USA Miracle!
My only vehicle that doesn’t use leg power, was damaged Nov 16 with crushed fender, grill, bumper, lights, and bent steering parts. I got it functional in one day, & legal in 3 days, but it handled poorly and took my good front tires (that cost about $20 ea. Used) down to the cords in 10 days. I finally found the used parts I was told I needed, last Thurs. by the alignment shop, for $130 and a new fender for only $70 which I ordered when I picked up the big steering parts. I’ve been looking for a cheap mechanic, since I’m busy earning money (Thank God) but had no success & even few return calls.
Last Saturday (12/5) my wife prayed with me for a mechanic to do the work, while I was driving to work with a friend to sell and install some duct-work for a burned house. That afternoon, I stopped to replace one of those bad tires at a salvage yard where I get good used tires for about $20 including mounting or a matching rim! I asked Israel, the tire man, if he knew a mechanic for me. He pointed and said, “Ask for Tony”. While Israel was mounting a nice tire for $17, I showed Tony the damage and parts. He said, “Come with me and I’ll show you all the parts you need. After talking parts, labor, and prices this is what happened the next day!
For only $260 without even using the parts I returned last week he provided and installed:
1. A spindle (wheel assembly) that had a matching ball-joint (the one I bought didn’t). It was $55 before I returned it.
2. The radius arm (about two feet long)
3. The I-beam (about 3 ft long) was $75 before return
4. A 3 foot torsion bar it needed
5. A matching fender
6. Hood
7. Grill & headlight mounting assembly
8. Grill
9. Headlight & turn mounting base
10. Headlight & turn with lenses
11. Put my new rotor & brakes back on the Spindle
12. After all that he changed my remaining bad tire for free after I bought it for $15 nice & used.
I haggled a low price repair shop down to $250 just to replace the two parts I paid $130 for earlier that day!
For $40 more he replaced two windows in my side door that were covered with sheet metal from previous damage. My van is in better shape than it was before the accident. That blessing was cheaper than collision insurance for several months and cost less than the profit from one of my recent service calls. He even installed a 2nd $15 good used tire for free labor & put my new headlight back inside for future use. This will help me save enough to pay my late property taxes and phone book advertising.
That’s the best answer to a car repair prayer I’ve ever seen! & my blessing came through Israel It was in great handling and running condition right before we got snow and ice on the roads! It’s been a bit too slippery and windy for me to ride my trike, even with my new gloves and snowmobile helmet.
Blessing # 2:
After I got it aligned and had spent a total of $345 related to the accident to get it aligned with almost new tires on the front. I drove it in good driving condition & returned the $130 in parts for $104 (80%), but I couldn’t start it at the other auto salvage place! I have an old employee friend that managed to come up with $1l to pay for the cell phone I provide him, because he is such a blessing to me. So I unsuspended his phone (cause his son ran up a $100 bill that I got reduced to $50, cause I’m a good customer who knows how to ask. Right after I unsuspended it, I called him & he helped me diagnose my auto problem in 1 minute! I was 120 ft. from a business that sold starting parts and bought an $8.95 frame-mounted solenoid & I just happened to be wearing a snowmobile suit (which I used riding my motor-assisted trike during the alignment) so I had it repaired, with my two small socket sets that I carry in a total of 30 minutes!
Sometimes I’m amazed at how the Lord helps me in my troubles!
Blessing #3:
At only 5-15 degrees F, (-8 to -13 C) I haven’t had any service calls until midnight Friday, but I sold a furnace replacement and finished the work Friday an hour before the service call.
Capitalism and Christianity go together it seems:
1. I recently read at www.cbn.com that Vietnam had their first public Christian activity of 13,000 people, because they have joined the World Trade Organization & made them agree to religious freedoms.
2. The gospel has almost always been supported by funds from someone who was wealthy through honest business or the business of their family members.
3. The basic teachings of Christianity are the foundation of all enduring financial success as:
a. Developed nations have people who tell the truth & do things as & when they say they will, usually.
b. The leading developed nations had strong nuclear families, which produce highly productive men, who usually work harder than women or single men.
c. All societies (even rural tribes) where Christian living dominates tend to improve productivity through honest labor.
4. The 2002 exiting premier of China said after 20 years of study of American secrets the best thing for China would be to become a Christian nation, because that is the only common thread in the American economic strength.
5. The apostles were mostly businessmen and the most productive supported himself & his team with his own small business.
6. The nations who send the most Christian missionaries have a corresponding increase in economic measures (based on Britain, USA, S. Korea, and China). When the sending stops the economies go down.
7. The entire world was changed by the movement of the Methodists in Britain and the USA. I learned the last two from MorningStar Ministries webstreams (click here) for $5-25/mos. I pay $15.
My advice is to vote and pray for those who want to reduce taxes on the wealthy and investors, because it is those who can keep their profits who will invest their time, talent, and $ to produce new products that will provide new jobs and new purchases from other businesses.
I’m enjoying the noise-canceling blue-tooth headset that stays in my ear when I run which I bought on sale for $12 plus the cell phone and wi-fi technology that was developed in Israel, by companies dominated by American Jews who used to be allowed to get wealthy, but now most of them have moved to Israel. Not to mention my Garmin GPS PDA, that also holds my favorite NASU bible with Strong’s Dictionary & much more.
The improvements in communication, food, health and availability of knowledge come mostly from successful capitalists who make it easier to spread the gospel and feed the hungry. Of course some of them make money selling us bad food, too.
Also pray for God to send out laborers and save or give money to go to other countries or support those who do. It’s good for both the Kingdom and the country’s economy.
