Encouragement for you with poor circumstances, esp. $ & answered prayer

Notes:

1. Provi’s headaches have stopped! (When she was sent to the hospital with a bad case of Malaria) but still needs to come back to normal strength.  We can give thanks for this today!

2. I’m looking for a compact import car in good major mechanical condition for under $1,500.

Encouraging words:

I am surprised at the places and people who give encouraging wisdom. Because of my unhappy circumstance of living and working mostly alone I often watch a down-loaded movie while I eat supper alone, because I can’t read much or type while I eat. Besides, it’s good to relax after a hard days work. But I look for wisdom in the most unlikely places, like Lord of the Rings”, “Fellowship of the Ring”.

I heard Gandolf the Grey say to Frodo, the ring-bearer, in other words, that our circumstances & their time our not ours to choose, but it is ours to choose how we will use our time in them. This encouraged me, because, although I don’t like living alone or working alone, I highly value time and am always learning by reading, listening to web-streams or mp3 teaching, and even learning from non-Christian movies. I was further encouraged by a web-stream teaching about seeking first the kingdom… Even though, I don’t like working alone, I am doing it as a part of seeking God’s kingdom first, because I know He desires that we work honestly, even “with your own hands..” and is pleased when we provide for our own wives, and support traveling to teach people how to effectively make disciples who obey all of His commandments. So I find comfort knowing that every squat, reach, step, and turn of the wrench pleases the Lord and He has chosen to forget my sometimes complaining or grumbling or choices that occasionally waste our precious time.

For those who lack finances or happy circumstances:

1. Use your time well.

2. Seek His kingdom first.

My experience with recent provision:

1. I spent years (starting in the mid 90s) memorizing the Song of Solomon and writing “The Passionate Heart of God” and had no idea that God would send me to Africa to teach that subject and start a very fruitful ministry in 2004.

2. I started exercising in 75 (to stay young) and eating good in the early 80s and had no idea I would marry a young lady 27 years younger than me in 2007 and probably be chasing our children until I’m in my 80s!

3. I do honest work (for His kingdom) and have been blessed more times than I can count by Christian customers who told me, after hiring me, that they didn’t know why, but they just picked out my small ad, even after turning the page to other contractors. So often God has provided, at the last minute for me to buy things to sell in Africa, right before my scheduled departure. Right now:

a. I have enough money to buy a used compact import (do you know of one under $1,500?) to save money on fuel and have a vehicle my wife can use when she finally gets here. This happened right after I damaged my van in a road accident. But I had enough resources to get it running legal with a tied-on headlight and a 2 X 6” bumper.

b. We have four computers en route or in Africa for sale (pray for the three that are late to Tanzania.) and I can afford to buy some more, especially when I get paid for the almost finished job I’m doing.

c. I’m finishing my 2nd job in 2 ½ wks for an African-American general contractor and had wonderful fellowship with his customer & her friend yesterday, after he told me that he hired me because my ad said something about Jesus.

d. This happened after I picked up 5 sharpened drill bits for $7.50 that had been waiting for me at a sharpening shop for 3 years! My old (35 yrs) friend’s relatives wanted my emails and encourage me in our ministry!

e. Not only that, but I met another African-American old friend who encouraged me more and wants to come visit us in Africa!

f. While shopping at Goodwill, I met a man who helped me do mechanical repairs to the front-end of my van and he helped me install a furnace, all for a very low wage and the fella is quite intelligent and likes to work!

g. I even found a snowmobile suit for $43 that I can use to ride my motor-assisted, 100 mpg trike in the winter to save money. I’m about to put it on to ride to my parents for Thank-giving dinnerJ
